From June 19th - 21st Garratt Park School joined with thousands of others around the UK to celebrate Refugee Week. Throughout the three days we followed the journey of a family from Syria who are now living in the UK and have been welcomed by their local community.
On Wednesday we set up a mock refugee camp within the school and pupils investigated and discussed what it would be like to have to live in a refugee camp.
We finished the week with a whole school assembly where we watched a film about the family celebrating their 1 year anniversary in the UK and thought about what we could do to welcome refugees in our local areas.
