Primary Physical Education (PE) and Sport Grant
As part of the government’s scheme to improve PE and Sport, Garratt Park School received a grant of £7,655 in 2013/14. This was spent on improving sporting facilities in the playground for all students to access. Two all-weather table tennis tables are now in place, and three new exercise machines were added to the outside gym. Two of these were particularly aimed at upper-body strength development, and the third was an additional ‘swing-flexor’ which has proved particularly popular for many students.
The outside gym has been extremely well used ever since it was installed, and is a major focus of activity every breaktime. The initial estimate that the equipment would be used 100,000 times in total each year now seems rather low, and this will clearly have benefited the general health and fitness of the students.
